Introducing the new, super-cute Sailor Moon Soapbox! A long time in the making, we've revamped our homepage and hitched ourselves firmly to the Web 2.0 wagon.

Welcome to our brand new site. The content that you've come to know and love over the years- our news, reviews, translations, editorials, and other updates are still going to be what make up the Soapbox, but as you can see, it's a completely different web experience.

Let's take a brief tour of the new website. On the homepage, you'll see the slidebox. The Latest Headlines tab pulls from a couple of RSS feeds we've selected from the News Portal. The other tabs give an introduction of some of our other projects to new Soapbox visitors.

Going across the top menu, we've got the homepage, the Sailor Moon archives (articles related to the Sailor Moon anime, manga, musicals, etc.), the PGSM archives (articles from the PGSM era of 2003-2005; we're finally organizing everything to make it easier for you to find what you're looking for), Miscellaneous News (articles related to Genvid like this post, Anime Recommendations, Japan, etc.) and information About Us. The PGSM area is empty except for a test post right now, I'll be filling that in as I put in the back archives over the course of the summer.

The right-side menu has a wonderful search feature that will help you find everything we've put on the site; hopefully by the end of August we'll be phasing out the old Soapbox and putting all its archives into this new, dynamically generated format, so you'll be able to instantly find information from years of Sailor Moon news. (I'm working backwards; I have 2007 to December 2005 so far.) There's also a Poll that we hope to change regularly- we'd like to feature YOUR questions to be put on the poll. Please send any poll ideas you have to us!

Continuing down the right-side menu, there's a tag cloud. The words change size as we tag more articles with them. Below the tag cloud are links to our RSS feeds.

You're welcome to subscribe to our feed, which will show some of the latest stories from our front page, or visit one of our site's coolest new features, the Sailor Moon News Portal. Check back here every day to see what headlines are making news in the Sailor Moon world. We'd like to add several other portals:

  • A discussion portal: see the latest threads from different Sailor Moon forums and groups.
  • A web portal: the newest updates from different Sailor Moon websites.
  • A blog portal: any and all Sailor Moon blogs.
Check out the News Portal and if you have a Sailor Moon forum, website, or blog with an RSS feed and you'd like to be listed in one of the portals, contact us!

This website revision is part of a larger shift here at Genvid. The forums have already been free for years and recently we changed the forums to make them more compact, easy to use, and friendly. We're changing the look of the website to make it easier for you to find the information you're looking for and get the latest Sailor Moon news. And for quite a while already, we've shifted in tone. I'm well aware that over the years we've turned off some fans. While Genvid hasn't lost its sense of humor, we have matured.

  • If you're a long time visitor, thank you for coming back to us so often. We really appreciate it. We hope you keep coming back.
  • If you're a first time visitor, welcome! We hope you find the site both useful and fun, and that you return to us regularly.
  • If you used to visit but don't any more, we hope this new website inspires you to give us another chance.
Last, I'd like to thank staff members Lunar Archivist and Dr. Xadium for their hard work and dedication toward making this new site a reality. Combined we spent some 60+ hours laboring on the new design; Lunar Archivist painstakingly ripped and animated the sprites you see around the page (they come from a Sailor Moon arcade quiz game), and Dr. Xadium did a lot of the additional graphic crafting. We think it was worth it, and we hope you do too.
