Today there was yet another Sailor Moon doujinshi event in Kawasaki that I attended, and here are some pictures and highlights.

This is the third Happy Halloween event, the sequel to the one we attended a year ago. I was there with Onur who runs a Turkish Sailor Moon website as well as Brad from http://www.moonkitty.net. Jared, who attended the Ochakai event last June was also set to go with us this time, having spent a lot of time preparing a Sailor Mars costume.

Unfortunately, yesterday (the day before the event), we were given some bad news. It seems that this group (which differs from the people who run the Ochakai) "do not permit cross-dressing with the possible exception of Haruka in her Mugen Gakuen outfit." Ouch. Out in the cold. Jared decided not to grace this event with his presence, which was sorely missed at an otherwise quiet affair.

I met with Onur and Brad at the train station and we walked through the pleasantly chilly weather toward the building; there were many new buildings put up in the area around the train station since we were there last year, and it was interesting to see the changes. We entered the hall and paid our 500 yen entrance fee, receiving a small booklet detailing the event.

There were many sellers at this event, but most were people we'd come to have seen several times over the last year- a few had new goods, and it was nice to see the growth process of this or that circle in action.

I've selected to come home next March, and apart from the Sailor Moon musical fan event during Christmas that I mentioned last time, I don't know if there'll be any of these types of events before I go back to the US, so I decided to spend a bit more money than usual getting cool-looking goods.

I came home with a pretty full bag. Going clockwise, on the top, the Usagi's Christmas Party is a flyer for the Christmas fan musical. Below that, a pair of doujinshi and a flyer from the artist. I like the way he draws Venus so I picked up both his books. (He's obsessed with Minako-Usagi love it seems.) At 6-o-clock, the Happy Halloween booklet, at 9-o-clock is a very professionally drawn doujinshi with great illustrations (haven't read it yet but it was that artist's latest release). Above that is a pencil-board that was on sale for 100 yen,  and I was given a free "music cdr" (has a few songs from the show as well as some random sound effects and series-related tracks... inside is a note saying don't sell the CD for profit, heh), and slightly below that is a small pack of cute Usagi notes that was also 100 yen. I decided to get something from that seller because he was putting Luna and Artemis on his head.

Tasty dish is ready!

This is a sand-blasted dish with a picture of Tomoe's smiling face on it, and various daimon eggs decorate the side. At the March event I wanted to buy a similar dish, but the only one the seller had was already sold to someone. At this one she came prepared, with two different Tomoe dish styles (including the one I saw last time, but I chose the one which has a bigger version of his face), and Tomoe glass cups. She had various other senshi design plates and cups too but at 1000 yen a pop I could only afford one. I'm not quite sure what I'll use this, probably to serve eggs on. Not that I eat many eggs.

Another seller was selling Mercury, Saturn, and Shitennou clocks of various shapes and designs. She's had them at the last few events and I finally broke down and got one. (500 yen each.)

It was held in the same hall as last year's Halloween event, with cosplayers given a terrace outside for photography. All the senshi were represented at this event, although many were repeat performers wearing the same costumes as in the last few events, so I didn't get shots of them. Around the same time inside they were playing bingo. Yeah, Sailor Moon bingo. Things started to get a tad dull so we didn't stick around for the final group shot. All in all I'd have to say that the June event which had the entire crew (Yosenex, Brad, Jared, Onur, and myself) was the best of them all, but if there's anything else between now and when I leave, I'll definitely try to make it and let you know what it was like.
