Latin Diminutives
Second Declension A primitive of the second declension may form a diminutive by adding ul-, ell-, or ill- to its base.
A primitive with a stem ending with ro- (no e immediately before the r) may form a diminutive by replacing ro- with ell-.
A primitive with a stem ending with ero- (e immediately before the r) may form a diminutive by replacing ero- with ell-.
A primitive with a stem ending with ino- may form a diminutive by replacing ino- with ell-.
Any primitive of the second declension can conveniently have its combining form combined with cul-, cell-, or cill- in a stem compound.
