Throughout the night, a mournful, eerie presence echoes and permeates through the city. In Metalia's chamber, Beryl turns. "Queen Metalia is..." Just then, a red light emanated throughout the cave, forcing Beryl to look away. With her eyes adjusted, she looks up again warily.

Usagi and Ami walk from school, report cards in hand. Usagi sighs. "'Try a little harder!' it says, but I did my best..." Turning to Ami, she asks brightly, "Ami, how did you do?"

Ami looks embarrassed. "The same as always, I gue-"

She's interrupted when Usagi plucks her report card out of her hands. "Show me!" Usagi opens Ami's report card to see the highest marks. "Wow! Awesome! That's our Ami! I've got to do my best, too!"

A teacher walking behind them speaks up. "Oh, Tsukino!" He shuffles up to them. "Don't worry! I can give you extra lessons any time!"

"Thank you!" says Usagi, turning away as Mr. Katou's attention is called away by another girl. "I hate extra lessons..." Usagi confesses.

"Hey, hey, hey!" Naru runs up between the two girls. "The homework for summer vacation, what should we do for that volunteer work? I have no idea what to do," she says.

"Me neither!" chimes Usagi.

Motoki tosses food into Kamekichi's tank. "Kamikichi! Where should we go together on my summer vacation? Should we go to your hometown? Then where?" Next to him, Nephrite is growling as he runs by, angrily mopping the floor. "Nephkichi!" scolds Motoki, "Don't put so much force into it!"

"Stop calling me that!" yells Nephrite.

"I-I got it," Motoki replies, a little cowed by Nephrite's outburst. "I'll think of something else."

Nephrite turns, gives a start and quickly runs away towards the rooms.

"Hey, wait!" says Motoki, running to grab him by the arm. "Where are you going?"

"Let me go!"

"You're not done yet!" A couple of cheerful voices interrupt them.

"Hello!" Usagi and Ami both greet.

"Welcome!" responds Motoki, who then slaps Nephrite's back. "You say 'Welcome' too!" he tells him.

"Is he a new part time employee?" asks Usagi.

"Yeah!" nods Motoki, "His name is..." He turns back to Nephrite, who quickly turns away. "Um...Nephrin!" Motoki announces.

That brings Nephrite's head quickly spinning back around to fix Motoki with a glare.

Usagi chokes back her laughter. "Nephrin?!" she repeats, sharing an amused glance with Ami.

 "Don't laugh!" whispers Ami.

Nephrite becomes furious. He throws down the mop and grabs Motoki by the front of his apron. "You bastard!" he roars, forcing him back onto the counter, "Not just once, but twice!"

"No good?" asks Motoki.

"No good?! Of course not!" Makoto comes walking in then and sees Nephrite abusing Motoki.

"Hold it!" she cries and rushes in to flip Nephrite onto the floor. Usagi and Ami look on in surprise while both the men are writhing on the floor. "What is it?" asks Makoto, "A robbery?!"

"Mako-chan! No!" cries Usagi, "He's a part-time worker."

"Part-time?" repeats Makoto.

Nephrite picks himself off the floor and goes running towards the rooms.

"Mako-chan!" says Motoki as he begins to rise to his feet, "Welcome!"

"Motoki, I'm sorry!" apologizes Makoto.

"I'm fine! I'm fine!" insists Motoki. "He doesn't mean any harm," he tells them, looking at the fleeing form of Nephrite, "but it seems he's all alone and angry."

Ami gazes off at the door to the room Nephrite ducked into.

"I'm sorry!" apologizes Makoto, "Are you okay?"

Motoki stops examing his elbow and lowers his arm. "Yeah! Thank you for helping me."

Usagi watches the exchange and a smile blooms on her face.

Rei sits on her purple chair in the secret room. Behind her, Luna in her girl form prances about while looking at the CD case for Minako's new song, which is playing in the boombox on the table. Rei is recalling her last encounter with Minako. "We have a mission!" says Minako emotionally, "You still don't understand the weight of our mission!"

"Rei!" Usagi's voice interrupts Rei's thoughts, "I wanted to consult you about something, but... Oh! It's Minako's new song!"

Luna hands over the CD case.

"Isn't it good?!" gushes Usagi, to which Luna nods.

"But, it's unusual for Rei to listen to this," says Makoto. She goes over behind Rei and teases her, "Did you awaken to it when you did Mars Reiko?"

"That's not it," Rei replies and quickly turns off the music.

"Is something about Minako worrying you?" asks Ami.

"Not really. It's just that she's too concerned over the Past," she replies.

"Concerned, you say?" asks Luna, "It's because she can clearly remember the memories of the Past."

"Isn't that good?" comments Makoto. "Our being here, it was all decided from the Past. The Past is precious," she tells Rei, who remembers what Makoto said as Sailor Jupiter. "Being alone, listening to the wind, it was all decided by the Past. That's why it's okay for me to be alone."

Rei gazes off into space, lost in her thoughts.

"Hmm? What is it?" asks Makoto.

"It's nothing really," Rei turns to Usagi, changing the subject, "Anyway, what was it you wanted to consult me about?"

"Oh yeah! I wanted to ask you if there's any volunteer work we can do," says Usagi.

"Volunteer work?"

"It's the homework for our summer vacation," explains Ami.

At the Juuban Children's Center, a young woman yells loudly over the noise of children playing. "Okay, everyone! Today some big sisters from the middle school came to play with us! Hey, Shouta! Don't go bug hunting inside the room! Everyone! Think of them as new friends you've made and play hard with them today!"

Usagi, Ami, Naru, and Makoto are standing in aprons at the front of the room. "Nice to meet you!" they say.

With Usagi in a pink rabbit suit and Ami in a blue penguin suit, the two say cheerfully. "Okay!" they say together.

"Whoever's going to draw with your big sisters," says Usagi, "Those people-"

"Those people!" echoes Ami.

"Come this way!" Usagi finishes.

They run over to a circle of little kids and sit down.

A big pile of paper lies in the center of the circle.

Two of the center's workers walk outside while at the other side of the room, Makoto dressed in a turtle outfit and Naru in a leopard outfit crawl on all fours. There are children perched on their backs.

"To the Dragon King's Palace, here we go!" announces Makoto. On her back, Shouta seems to have fun, his bug next waving in his hands.

"Kino-san," says Naru, "seeing you in school, I thought you seemed difficult to approach, but you're really quite kind."

 "Really?" replies Makoto.

"It suits you," says Naru.

"Huh?" asks Ami, "Motoki and Mako-chan?"

Usagi nods. "Yup. Just as I thought, those two have a good feeling. Before it didn't go well probably just because of timing."

"I'm happy if that's true," says Ami.

"That's why we're going to start them off!" Usagi says happily and then leans in to whisper her plans to a nodding Ami.

"Huh?!" exclaims Motoki, "A new type of turtle?" Kamikichi croaks in his tanks.

"Yeah," nods Ami, "I heard it's in the back of the Children's Center."

"Really?" says Motoki, a dreamy looks coming into his eyes. Snapping out of it, he runs from behind the counter, passing Nephrite who's furiously mopping and dusting at the same time. "Nephrin! I'm going to leave this to you for a bit!"

"Don't call me that name!" shouts Nephrite.

"Now! Now!" soothes Motoki, running off and coming back with an explorer's hat on his head and a net and the rest of the outfit in his hand. "Nephkichi! I'm leaving it to you, okay!"

"Didn't I tell you not to call me that!" Nephrite shouts to Motoki, who's already left. He slams the feather duster down in anger, knocking objects to the floor. He throws the mop down as well. Ami bends over and starts to pick up the fallen items. "Don't mind me," he says, and again in a much louder voice, "I said don't mind me!"

Ami puts all the items back on the counter. "Umm..." Gently, she takes the feather duster from him. "I think it would be better if you used one at a time." She puts the duster down, takes the mop from him and starts to mop.

Nephrite looks at her and has a flashback of Dark Mercury throwing his mended cape to him and telling him, "You being alone like that...somehow, I don't like it." Shaking himself out of his reverie, he mutters angrily to himself, "I'm unsightly." He runs off, tripping on the bucket of mop water on the way. Ami watches him run away in confusion.
